1. How far away is Hoedspruit?
Hoedspruit is located 13km away from Tomo Safari Lodge. It takes approximately 22 minutes to drive into town as long as you don’t run into any elephant traffic along the way.
2. Do you offer airport transfer?
Yes we do. For a maximum of 3 people we have our in house service and for more than 3 people we can organize an external transfer for you to and from the East Gate Airport. Ask for pricing at the time of booking.
3. Are children allowed?
Yes, Tomo Safari Lodge is a child friendly lodge. We welcome children of all ages. Babysitting can be arranged at an extra cost and needs to be organized at the time of booking.
4. What should I wear on safari?
We recommend wearing informal and comfortable, neutral-coloured clothing such as:
- Long pants or trousers for safari
- Good walking shoes
- Cotton shirts
- A warm fleece or jacket, hat or beanie and gloves for the mornings and cooler days.
5. Do you have wifi?
Yes, there is WiFi available in all suites and main areas of the lodge and pool area. Signal may be intermittent the further you are from the main lodge.
Please note that we ask that all phones be switched to silent in main areas to maintain the tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. Additionally, on sfari we request that devices be switched to airplane mode and all geotagging functions should be switched off to help with conservation efforts.
6. Can children go on game drive?
Yes, children can go on game drive. However, it is ALWAYS up to the discretion of the ranger driving the game viewer as to whether or not the child will be able to attend or not. If you are with children of 5 years or younger we ask that you hire your own private game viewer for your safari experiences or enquire about a babysitter to watch your child during the game drives. Please read or Child Policy.
1. How many nights do you recommend staying?
In order to full enjoy your stay with us we recommend a 4 to 5 night stay. With this amount of time you will be able to fully enjoy the lodge, the safaris, and even enjoy 1 or 2 of the wonderful activities that we offer around us!
2. What is the conservation levy?
The conservation levy is a small and mandatory conservation levy that supports our efforts towards conservation and anti-poaching on our reserve.
1. Is the lodge fenced?
Yes, Tomo Safari Lodge is fenced. We have a fence that runs around the lodge that is 2 metres high that is electrified. In front of the pool and deck area we have a lower Kenya fence that allows for safety and doesn’t disturb the view. Further our around the lodge we also have an elephant fence that is in place to keep the elephants out so that the trees around the lodge do not get damaged.
1. Can I order room service?
No, we do not offer room service.
2. Is there a laundry service?
Yes, we do offer a next day laundry service. See the price sheet in your room for more information.
3. Do you have a coffee machine?
Yes, each room has it’s own coffee machine. In the main area of the lodge we also have a coffee station.
1. Should I be worried about malaria and yellow-fever?
Tomo Safari Lodge is located in a low-risk malaria area, however, we always recommend that each guest consults with their family doctor before travelling. Mosquitoes are mostly present during the warmer months, our suites contain repellent sprays for your use.
We are not situated in a yellow-fever area, but it is still a good idea to talk to your family doctor before travelling.
